The Cascais-Guincho Nature Park

The Cascais-Guincho Nature Park encompasses 49 hectares of protected natural landscape.
This park represents the last significant continuous green space within the municipality. It is situated at the intersection of the Sintra/Malveira mountains, the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, and Guincho Beach.
The park possesses a distinct ecological and cultural identity.
It functions as a green corridor, linking the habitats of the Sintra mountains with those of the Guincho coastal area.
Ribeira dos Mochos runs through this park.
The park's distinctive vegetation spans habitats from the Serra de Sintra to the coastal zone, providing essential resources for local fauna and supporting biodiversity.
Numerous permeable trails accommodate activities such as walking, hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding.
Dense vegetation acts as a natural barrier, mitigating the impact of prevailing winds in the area.
The landscape features patches of forest, Mediterranean maquis, and meadows.
Healthy vegetation within the park provides shade and releases water vapor, thereby lowering surface and air temperatures and mitigating the urban heat island effect.
Dense shrubs and woodlands within the park serve as refuges for wildlife.
These features collectively enhance the park's resilience to climate change.
The park offers a tranquil atmosphere and scenic beauty throughout.
Dense vegetation along the park's periphery also functions as a natural acoustic barrier.
Situated between Birre, Areia, and Aldeia da Juso, the park offers direct views of the Sintra Mountains.
