Plastic is derived from crude oil, coal, or gas. The refining process transforms crude oil into different petroleum products, such as plastic. The extraction of oil can pollute precious groundwater.
If not recycled, plastic ends up in the trash, going into landfills and incinerators, creating potent greenhouse gases, CO2 and methane, which warm our planet, contributing to climate change.
There are tens of thousands of landfills across the world. Beneath them, plastic leachate full of toxic chemicals seeps into groundwater and flows downstream into lakes, rivers, and oceans.
Do your part, and reduce your plastic consumption!
